The Gospel …
Consider This ….
Why does the gospel seem so hard, especially when it is so easy? Why do so many people reject the gospel when presented with it? Is it’s because we don’t understand the gospel when presenting it or maybe we’re presenting a ‘watered down’ gospel and not the full gospel?
Zondervan handbook (https://www.amazon.com/Zondervan-Handbook-Christian-Beliefs-Alister/dp/0310262739) describes the gospel as:
1. ‘One of the four accounts of the life, death and RESURRECTION of Jesus found in the NEW TESTAMENT. A Gospel is more than just a biography; it interprets the meaning of Jesus in a way that calls forth a response of FAITH.’
2. ‘The good news of what GOD has done through JESUS, and especially his death and RESURRECTION. He has made available to us FORGIVENESS and NEW BIRTH in the HOLY SPIRIT. It is through hearing the gospel that people can come to receive Jesus and find his/her new life.’
So the gospel is the good news of God’s Love for us, the life of HIS Son, Jesus, our Redemption through Christ’s life, death and Resurrection. It is this true gospel that makes available to us FORGIVENESS, and NEW BIRTH in the HOLY SPIRIT resulting in right relationship with Sovereign God.
To understand the gospel is to truly recognize who God is, the significance of creation and our origin. Additionally, knowing our position without God and what He has accomplished through Jesus, for our benefit; to save us and return us to right relationship with God as originally intended.
So, as we face this pandemic, our current state and the new norm (2019 is gone forever….don’t look for it to return…) - consider the gospel …do you know it?
Consider This: How will I accept being saved if I don’t think I need saving?
